Most extraordinary cause of hearing loss
It has been reported in cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk that the cause of deafness and pain for the past 33 years for a 47 year old ex-miner was in fact a tooth lodged in his ear.
Stephen Hirst, an ex-miner, has suffered excruciating earache for 33 years and severe headaches and insomnia for several years.
It is hard to comprehend how visits to his GP and various ear, nose and throat specialists over the years did not reveal the culprit of his pain but his last ditch attempt to find a solution saw him at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, UK.
The team at the hospital, who were completely shocked at their discovery, removed it using a suction tube and a pair of tweezers.
While Mr Hirst doesn't know how the baby tooth got into his ear canal he said the only explanation is that he put it in his ear as a young boy.
