Have you insured your cochlear implant sound processor? If not, now is the time to act.

Your sound processor is an essential—and expensive—part of your everyday life. Unfortunately, it’s also surprisingly easy to lose or damage. Whether it slips from your pocket, gets mistaken for a toy by a curious pet, or is accidentally damaged while attempting a DIY fix, the consequences can be costly.

We strongly encourage all recipients to insure their processor. You can do this by:

  • Listing it as a portable or personal valuable under your home contents insurance, or

  • Taking out a stand-alone portable valuables policy.

Please remember:

  • Loss or damage caused by pets, accidents, or unauthorised repairs (e.g., using glue) is not covered by your warranty or standard repair fees.

  • Replacing a processor out of pocket can be very expensive.

Cost of Replacement examples:

  • Behind-the-ear (BTE) processors (both MEDEL and Cochlear): $9,078

  • Off-the-ear (Kanso 2) processor: $8,114

You can request a quote from your clinic if required.
