Exciting News: LG Adds Auracast Support to 2025 TVs—Transforming the Way We Listen

LG has announced a free software upgrade for selected 2025 model TVs, introducing support for Bluetooth Auracast™—an emerging technology that allows multiple users to wirelessly stream audio directly from their TV to compatible devices.

This means users can now enjoy clearer, more personalised sound through:

  • Auracast-enabled headphones

  • Bluetooth-compatible hearing aids

  • Cochlear implants (including the upcoming Auracast support for the Nucleus® 8 Sound Processor)

Whether you’re watching TV alone or with others, Auracast enables everyone to connect their own devices and hear the sound at the volume that suits them—without disturbing others. This is particularly beneficial in shared households, noisy environments, or for those with hearing loss who require clearer, direct-to-device audio.

What is Auracast?

Auracast™ is a new Bluetooth Low Energy audio broadcasting standard that allows a single device (like a TV) to stream audio to one or many receivers at once. It’s poised to revolutionise public and private listening—making audio more accessible in everything from living rooms to theatres, airports, and beyond.

What does this mean for Cochlear Implant users?

For Cochlear™ Nucleus® 8 users, this opens up the potential for direct audio streaming from Auracast-enabled TVs in the near future—delivering enhanced sound quality without the need for intermediate accessories. Cochlear has announced Auracast compatibility will be coming via a firmware update, making the Nucleus 8 one of the first hearing implants to support this exciting new standard.
